Who needs to fill out TD1NB?
TD1NB is the New Brunswick Personal Tax Credits Return. You fill it out if you work in New Brunswick, or receive a pension and live there, and you're starting a new job or your situation has changed. Your employer uses it with your federal TD1 to work out how much New Brunswick income tax to deduct from each pay.

Common mistakes
- Claiming the basic personal amount with two employers at the same time. You can only claim your credits once. On the second job, tick the “more than one employer” box and enter 0, or you'll owe tax in April.
- Using the spouse's gross pay instead of their net income for the spouse amount.
- Keeping an old TD1 after your situation changes. Fill out a new one when you get a new dependant, separate, turn 65 or start a pension.
- Forgetting the provincial form. If you only hand in the federal TD1, your employer uses the provincial basic amount and nothing else.
Frequently asked questions
What is the 2026 New Brunswick basic personal amount?
$13,664. Every person employed in New Brunswick, and every pensioner living there, can claim it on line 1 of TD1NB.
Do I need to fill out TD1NB?
You need it if your federal total claim (line 13 of the TD1) is more than $16,452, or if you claim any New Brunswick amount besides the basic one. If you don't fill it out, your employer deducts New Brunswick tax using only the basic personal amount.
Who do I give TD1NB to?
Your employer or payer, along with your federal TD1. Don't send it to the CRA. Keep a copy for yourself.
Can I claim the basic amount with two employers?
No. Claim your credits with one employer only. On the other TD1s, tick the “more than one employer” box and enter 0 as your total.
